Downtown's Union Station will be the first city-owned building to go completely "green" in its cleaning program. Under a contract with the city, ServiceMaster will implement trademark Green For products and equipment, and will have all cleaning personnel trained and the program in place by May 1, 2008.

In a letter to Mayor John Robert Smith, ServiceMaster President Jim Cason said, "Our commitment is to do business the right way and to turn ordinary tasks into extraordinary service. ServiceMaster Clean is eliminating the use of any toxic chemicals which would negatively impact the environment."

ServiceMaster's Green For products:

• are gentle, yet highly effective

• are free of ingredients such as perfumes and dyes, making them ideal for people with chemical and allergic sensitivities

• reduce toxins absorbed into the ecosystem

• biodegrade at a much faster rate than non-green products

Products that will be used by ServiceMaster include oxidizing cleaner, carpet cleaner, degreaser, floor cleaner, general purpose cleaner and bathroom cleaner.
