The “Go-Cup Ordinance” allows downtown participating businesses to offer a to-go cup for patrons wishing to finish their beverage outside restaurants or bars within the designated district.

The Go-Cup Ordinance is in effect Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

  • Patrons are required to go inside a restaurant or bar to purchase a beverage. Leaving the site with a drink in hand is allowed, as long as it is done within the boundaries of the leisure district. This leisure district is considered the “walkable” arts and entertainment district in downtown Meridian. Maps outlining the Downtown Leisure/Social District will be available at participating downtown businesses and restaurants.
  • To-go cups are issued at the discretion of the individual establishments. The owner, manager, or bartender has the right to refuse a to-go cup to any individual they believe may be in danger of being over-served.
  • Only one (plastic, 16 oz. or less) container will be issued per guest over the age of 21. That’s right — one, not two!”
  • You may not enter licensed premises with an alcoholic beverage.
  • Unless otherwise permitted by the property owner, citizens electing to take their beverage “to go” must stay within the public sidewalks and not on private property.
  • Please do not drink and drive!
