The Business Affairs Division reports to the City Clerk. We assist the Finance and Records Department in overseeing purchasing, bids, buildings and maintenance, taxicab permits, business privilege licenses, taxes, and tax exemptions.

Utility Billing and Water Collections
The Utility Billing Division reports to the City Clerk in the Finance and Records Department. We are responsible for getting meters read and bills out to the customers.
Customers are welcome to call our office to discuss their bill, need information about their meter, or need information about a leak adjustment.
ONLY make payments through the links provided on this website.
Your bill includes water, sewer, and garbage fees. Payment is due within 14 business days of billing.

After Hours Water Emergency
Ways you can pay your bill:
- At City Hall: We are located on the second floor.
- By mail: Use the return envelope enclosed with your bill or mail it to: P.O. Box 231, Meridian, MS 39302-0231.
- By bank draft: Complete the Authorization for Bank Draft form to set up your account on automatic bank draft. This will be an automatic monthly draft and available for you to sign up for at any time.
- By telephone: Call 844.925.2455. This interactive voice response option is available in English and Spanish.
- Online: Use the Express Payment option at utility.meridianms.org to pay by credit card or check. You may also register for online account inquiry.
- At our dropbox: Place your payment in the drop box on the Sixth Street side of City Hall (across from the old police station).
- At the Drive-through: Pay the total amount of your bill at the medical branch of Citizens National Bank, 1015 23rd Avenue, using their drive-through lane. All payments received at this location will be posted to your water, sewer, and garbage account on the following business day.
Rates:
- Water: $7.12 per 1,000 gallons for the first 2,000 gallons; $7.75 per 1,000 gallons over 2,000 gallons.
- Sewer: Rates are the same as water except from May 1 through October 31, when sewer rates will not exceed the average sewer rate paid for the previous six-month period.
Minimum Bills:
There is a minimum monthly bill requirement based on meter size. Most residential meters are 5/8 of an inch, which would be $53.48:
- Water: $14.24
- Sewer: $14.24
- Garbage: $25
Service Charges:
- $5 Late fee if the bill is not paid on or before the due date
- $30 Disconnection charge due to a delinquency-related shutoff
- $30 Disconnection charge for a locked meter
- $50 Disconnection charge when the meter has been pulled
- $40 Returned check/bank draft fee
Water Collections
The Water Collections Division reports to the City Clerk in the Finance and Records Department. Customers are welcome to call our office to discuss bills, file for leak adjustment or pool adjustment, and/or set up a new service, which includes tap fees for new construction. For information on how to read your meter and check for leaks, we can help you.
Please call our office if you have questions about refunding deposits for current accounts or if you have questions about delinquent accounts.
Deposits:
There is a minimum deposit based on meter size. Most residential meters are 5/8″. The minimum deposit for this size meter is $75. Contact our office for the minimum deposit for a larger size meter. The minimum deposit for garbage-only service is $25.
Local community water associations provide water services outside the city.
