The Utility Billing and Collections office handles various essential tasks, such as reading water meters, connecting new service lines, conducting field inspections, and managing all aspects of billing and collections for water, sewer, and garbage services.

How to Pay Your Bill
Payment is due within 14 business days of billing. Your bill includes water, sewer, and garbage fees.
- In person: Located on the second floor of City Hall.
- Mail to: P.O. Box 231, Meridian, MS 39302-0231
- By bank draft: Complete the Authorization for Bank Draft form to set up your account for automatic bank draft. Available for sign-up at any time.
- By phone: Call 844.925.2455. Available in English and Spanish.
- Online: Use the Express Payment option at Utility.MeridianMS.Org to pay by credit card or check.
- Dropbox: Located on the Sixth Street side of City Hall (across from the old police station).
- Drive-thru: Located at the medical branch of Citizens National Bank, 1015 23rd Avenue. All payments received at this location will be posted to your water, sewer, and garbage account on the following business day.

Rates
Effective 10/1/23, water and sewer rates will increase by 9% for maintenance and improvements. Please see Ordinance 4529 Water and Sewer Rates Increase and Mississippi House Bill 698 for more information.
- Water: $7.12 per 1,000 gallons for the first 2,000 gallons; $7.75 per 1,000 gallons over 2,000 gallons.
- Sewer: Rates are the same as water except from May 1 through October 31, when sewer rates will not exceed the average sewer rate paid for the previous six-month period.
Effective 11/19/2019, water and sewer rates will increase each year beginning October 1, 2020, through October 1, 2025.
Service Charges
- $5 late fee if the bill is not paid on or before the due date
- $30 disconnection charge for a delinquency-related shutoff or locked meter
- $50 disconnection charge when the meter has been pulled
- $40 returned check/bank draft fee

The minimum monthly bill of $53.48 is based on a residential meter that is 5/8″.
