The Gravity Sewer System Operations and Maintenance Program is a component of the City’s comprehensive Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance
Program and is intended to reduce the number of blockage-related sanitary sewer overflow events. Blockages within a wastewater collection system typically include accumulated solids, debris, root intrusion, and any other obstructions that may occur within gravity piping or manholes. Once the program is implemented, the objective is to transition Public Works’ Lines Maintenance Division’s routine operations and maintenance activities from reactive to proactive, which should improve system performance and support regulatory compliance.
