The Sewer Overflow Response Plan (SORP) is one of the components of the City’s Consent Decree-required Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance Program.
The SORP outlines the actions and procedures the Meridian Public Works Department staff will take in the event of a possible sanitary sewer overflow (SSO). Essentially, this document is a road map for the City’s field crews to follow when responding to sewage overflows to minimize the impacts on public health and the environment. Once the SORP is fully implemented, it is expected to promote a trend of improved effectiveness in protecting the city of Meridian’s residents and the local environment from future overflow events.
